Samhain is the Irish word for Halloween. I created this candle as a Halloween candle, but due to popular demand, it remains for sale throughout the year.
Samhain (pronounced Sah-Win) is a three day ancient Celtic pagan Irish Festival, marking the end of the Summer and the harvest and the beginning of the darker half of the year. This was the start of the Celtic new year signaling both death and rebirth. It was a time to honour family members that had died. They invited these spirits into the family home. It was believed the line between the worlds were blurred for these three days. People wore costumes and dressed as evil beings to frighten away any harmful spirits so that only the good could enter. Sacrifices of crops and animals were said to be burned in bonfires as protection from Otherworldly evil beings.
I hand pour my candles using eco-soy wax and therapeutic essential oils of warming cinnamon, healing neroli, spicy black pepper and uplifting lime.
Eco soy wax is a natural renewable resource. It is biodegradable and is cleaner burning, non toxic and cooler burning, so your candle will burn for longer.
Candle Care: When lighting your candle for the first time, try to keep it lit for 3 hours. This is enough time for the wax to melt to the edge of your container. Eco-soy wax candles burn cooler, so your candle will burn for longer. They also burn with very little soot or smoke. If you happen to notice soot or smoke, remove the carbon from the end of the wick after extinguishing your candle. This will minimise future soot or smoke on subsequent burns.
This Halloween candle will burn for approximately 40 hours
Also available as part of a gift set of 4 candles -see gift range
Return to Refill
If you don’t decide to keep the glass and lid, please return them to me in Marlay Park for store credit. I can reuse it and I’m always delighted to get them back.
